The sign-up period for the 2019/2020 Virginia Agricultural BMP Cost-share and Tax Credit program began July 1, 2019. Producers who farm in the Northern Neck have until August 9, 2019, to sign up. Priority practices for the area are Nutrient Management, Cover Crop, Precision Nutrient Management (nitrogen and phosphorus application), Stream Exclusion and Land Management, Permanent Vegetative Cover on Critical Areas, Sediment Retention, Erosion or Water Control Structure, and Sod Waterway. The District’s allocation for cost share this year more than tripled compared to FY 18/19. Also, funding caps for VACS program participants have been raised to $100,000.
Producers may sign up at the NNSWCD’s office, located at 5559 Richmond Road in Warsaw, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
