The Virginia Flood Protection Master Plan

To ensure Virginia is increasing flood resilience across the Commonwealth, the Department of Conservation and Recreation is developing a statewide Virginia Flood Protection Master Plan (VFPMP).

The VFPMP is in development and targeted for release to the public at the end of 2025. The Code of Virginia requires delivery no later than December of 2026 and that it be updated every five years.

Stakeholders are invited to engage and collaborate on various components of the VFPMP. These components include:

DCR has launched a public survey to solicit feedback from all residents of the Commonwealth. Your input will directly influence the outcomes of the VFPMP.
