POSTPONED: Westmoreland Fall Hazardous Waste (Postponed Until 2021)
Out of an abundance of caution regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, Westmoreland County has postponed the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection originally scheduled for September 26, 2020. The new date for the event is Saturday, April 24, 2020. Logistics specific to this event make it nearly impossible to socially distance during the collection. With public safety as the highest priority, organizers decided that postponing until 2021 was the safest option. HHW collections are a collaborative effort of Westmoreland County, Virginia Cooperative Extension, and the Northern Neck Soil and Water Conservation District.
Lancaster, Richmond and Northumberland Fall 2020 HHW Event Schedule
The other three Northern Neck counties will proceed with scheduled Fall HHW/E-Waste collections. However, citizens will notice new procedures and safety measures in place to protect event workers and attendees from potential spread of disease. These will be no-contact events. All event workers will wear PPE and citizens will be asked to remain in their vehicles at all times. The public is asked to pack their items for collection in an accessible area of their vehicle for easy unloading by event workers.
- Lancaster County’s HHW/E-Waste Collection event will take place Saturday, October 17, 2020, 9 A.M-2 P.M. at the Lancaster Court House parking lot on Mary Ball Road.
- Richmond County will hold their HHW/E-Waste Collection Saturday, October 24, 2020, 9 A.M.- 2 P.M. at the Indianfield Convenience Center located at 125 Recycling Rd. in Warsaw.
- Northumberland County will collect HHW/E-Waste Saturday, November 7, 2020, 9 A.M- 2 P.M. at the Northumberland Middle School bus parking lot in Heathsville. The parking lot is easy accessed directly off of Route 360.
