Learn about solar: Info sessions in Kilmarnock Aug. 7, Gloucester Aug. 8

The newly launched Solar Co-op for the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula – Three Rivers Solar Co-op – is holding informational sessions next week:

  • Monday August 7th: Grace Episcopal Church, S. Main St., Kilmarnock at 6.30pm

  • Tuesday August 8th: Gloucester Public Library on Main St. at 6.30pm

The speaker is Aaron Sutch, Director of VASUN (Virginia Solar United Neighborhoods). VASUN is a non-profit which runs the Co-op process for members. Admission to the info sessions is free, as is becoming a member of the Co-op.

There is no financial commitment until you sign a customized contract with the Co-op Installer, chosen by early members of the Co-op.

If you can’t make it to an info session, you can go online to vasun.org for information. You become a Member by enrolling in the Three Rivers Solar Co-op on its website  <vasun.org/three-rivers>. Members save about 20% on the cost of the solar installation and get a 30% Federal Tax Credit. I am a member and am very pleased with our installation

A typical array pays for itself in about 10 years and warranties run 25-30 years – so it makes economic sense as well as ecological sense.
