Where: Marston Hall at Christchurch School in Middlesex County, VA
Admission: Free
The Garden Clubs of The Northern Neck and The Middle Peninsula, which are member clubs of
the Garden Club of Virginia, will sponsor a conservation forum for the education of our public
related to preserving one of the precious natural resources of our state, water. Mr. Lewis
Lawrence, Executive Director of the Middle Peninsula Planning Commission, will emphasize the
significance which our state has enacted to:
  1. ensure that adequate and safe drinking water is
available to all citizens of the Commonwealth
  2. encourage, promote, and protect all other
beneficial uses of the Commonwealth’s water resources, and
  3. encourage, promote, and
develop incentives for alternative water sources.
In 2003, the state of Virginia initiated the
development of a comprehensive water supply planning process to ensure that each local within
the state addressed this issue. The presentation will discuss how the state planning process will
work and how public concerns can be voiced during the update.
The Garden Club of the Northern Neck and The Garden Club of the Middle Peninsula have
partnered for several years to bring statewide conservation issues to our locale. Our citizens and
students have attended these conservation forums, which seek to deepen their understanding and
awareness of conservation issues and how their lives maybe impacted by individual,
organizational and governmental decision making processes. Please join us for this free educational
forum.
